Randy Snapp

Randy Snapp is a guitarist’s guitarist. It is one of the highest compliments, and a rare occurrence, to attract musicians to one’s performances. However, when Randy Snapp performs, there is an awe struck audience of aspiring and veteran musicians watching, listening, and learning.

Undoubtably, Randy is a Chicago Bluesman. Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, he first started jamming with local musicians in the late 60’s. 1970 found Randy living in Athens, Alabama; listening to and learning, first hand, from such notable guitarists as Dickie Betts and, Randy’s favorite, Duan Allman.

After a year of Southern exposure, Randy returned to Chicagoland and brought with him the newly acquired influence of the Southern Rock masters. By combining this new style with his Blues heritage, Randy began to stand out from the crowd and by 1974 was lead guitarist for Chess recording artist, Sam Lay; then traveling in the company of such Blues greats as: Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield, Otis Span and Muddy Waters. Night after endless night of smoke-filled, beer-spilled Blues gigs - from Wise Fools to Biddy Mullagins to Milwaukee Fest - eventually took its toll and Randy left the band; taking with him an unsurpassed education.

Whether it be clean or dirty, fluid or fury, country or fusion; Randy Snapp is always able to deliver and maintain that rare dynamic tension and quality inherent in well executed musical performance. This, combined with his past experience and knowledge, makes Randy Snapp truly a versatile, accomplished performer.
